Today my co-author on “For Young Women Only” Lisa Rice and I flew to Dallas, Texas to tape the popular television show ‘LIFE Today’ with James Robison and his wife Betty Robison. This is a wonderful couple that is fulfilling a very important process and I’m always delighted to be invited on their show to share the latest message that I’ve worked so hard to research and investigate to communicate to people.
The thing that always strikes me so much about being with James and Betty Robison is that they are doing things after God’s own heart. They are not just the founders of an incredibly successful, Christian television program. They are also the founders of an organization called ‘LIFE Outreach International’ that enlists the many millions of viewers of their television program to go meet the needs of some of the most needy people around the globe.
Every time I have been on the show they have shared with their viewers the work that their organization has been doing. For example, they built wells to allow people to have clean, fresh drinking water in areas where literally hundreds of thousands are being killed every year by water borne disease. They have also gone to developing countries and feeding hundreds of thousands of malnourished children who have no hope other than the hope that believers can bring when they truly do take care of belief as they do. Take care of “belief” among us as the Bible says. As Lisa and I were on the show they were sharing about the work that their organization is doing in Sudan, which, as everyone probably knows, has just been decimated by war, famine and hunger and to see millions of people literally starving in that area just heartbreaking. This organization ‘LIFE Outreach’ is bringing food to people whom literally line up all day to get it.
I applaud James and Betty Robinson for not just having a television broadcast that reaches millions of people with some very important messages for our lives here at home, but also enlists them to meet the needs far beyond our borders that most of us never even see and never would see otherwise. It was a pleasure to do the show, it was a pleasure to talk about “For Young Women Only” but it is even more powerful just sit and watch this ministry unfold and realize that we can be a small part of drawing in these viewers who then can go help other people on other people on the other side of the planet.
